About Dr. Sarah

Dr. Sarah Bennett grew up in New Tripoli, in eastern Pennsylvania outside Allentown, and her path to veterinary medicine started in middle school, when her mom suggested it and she began working on her aunt's 250-cow family dairy farm and showing cattle in 4-H. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in veterinary and biomedical sciences from Penn State, with minors in animal science and equine science, and her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022, followed by an internship and a three-year fellowship in dairy production medicine at Penn.

Dairy cattle are her favorite patients, and her strengths are nutrition, production medicine and herd-level cases. What she finds most rewarding is watching the changes a farm follows through on show up in the herd's health and productivity and, in the end, in the farm's financial footing. She also sees small animals and enjoys the variety of patients on both sides of the practice, along with the fact that there's always something new to learn.

She and her husband, Chris, had been visiting the Venas, longtime friends, for more than ten years, and between the rural lifestyle, the outdoors and the strong need for more veterinarians here, especially for large animals, the move made sense. This summer she bought a house, moved across the state, got married, honeymooned and started a new job, all within about six weeks. Her mini pit mix, Timmi, weighed about 2 pounds when Sarah started fostering her in vet school and is now around 35, and a small hobby farm is next on the list. She spends her free time hiking, biking, hunting, kayaking and gardening, or in the kitchen baking and cooking.
